HOW IT WORKS

Friends of Friends Travel Connect brings together two connected communities: Traveller Members and Local Friend Connectors.

Traveller Members are women who want to travel independently while having access to trusted local reassurance, introductions and connections.

Local Friend Connectors are trusted local people drawn from friends, friends-of-friends, local networks, and shared-interest pathways. They may offer a welcome, local knowledge, introductions, shared experiences or deeper engagement, depending on what is agreed.

1  Become a member of FFTC

 Membership gives you access to the FFTC network, member resources, community updates and the opportunity to request trusted introductions. Additional fees apply for more involved introductions, shared-interest experiences or local support. Any fee will be explained before anything is confirmed. 

When you join, you complete a questionnaire, then create a more detailed connection profile in the Member Area.

This approach helps FFTC understand your travel interests, preferred destinations, level of engagement, comfort, accessibility needs, budget and the kinds of local connections that may be useful.

Traveller Membership will be available at AUD$95 for a traveller's first year  (US$66 / €58, depending on exchange rates and payment processing).

Whether you're exploring ideas or already planning a trip, tell us where you are going and what interests you. 

 3 Profile & Preferences
We clarify your interests, expectations and boundaries.
Also tells us what kind of local connection would be helpful. This may include reassurance before and on arrival, practical local knowledge, a coffee or walk, shared-interest introductions, cultural  experiences, community connections or deeper support over a longer stay.

4 Trusted Connection  

Where possible, FFTC identifies possible connections through friends, friends-of-friends,  Local Friend Connectors or a relevant experience partner. Meet online and decide what feels right. There is no expectation to participate beyond what feels right. All connections are optional, respectful and based on clear agreements. Sometimes the introduction will be to another member traveller.

Connections may be based on destination, shared interests, travel style, availability, preferred level of engagement and mutual comfort.

The aim is to open doors to authentic local experiences and connections that might otherwise remain out of reach.

5 Choose Your Level of Engagement

Every traveller is different. 

Some may simply want a welcome message, local advice, a coffee, a short walk or a practical introduction. 

Others may want activities, hosted experiences, small gatherings or connections around art, music, food, gardens, textiles, heritage, sport, culture or community life.

You may want to go deeper through  activities and experiences potentially including accommodation where agreed. 

FFTC will explain what is included, what is not included, and any fees before anything is confirmed. 

6  Growing Trusted Experience Partners
FFTC will continue to develop trusted partnerships and local connections around shared interests such as art, sporting events, heritage, food, gardens, wellbeing, learning, culture and community life.

Over time, this means a wider pool of trusted options, so travellers can connect not only through destination, but through the interests, needs, passions and experiences that make travel more meaningful.

7  Thoughtful Technology, Human Connection 

FFTC uses technology to make trusted connections easier, not impersonal. Carefully applied AI can help identify shared interests, locations, availability and suitable levels of engagement between travellers and Local Friend Connectors. 

But every connection still rests on trust, consent and human judgement. The aim is to support meaningful travel experiences while keeping the network personal, safe and human.

8  Fees at a Glance
FFTC is a membership-based network. FFTC will offer membership for the first year (US$66 / €58, depending on exchange rates and payment processing), depending on exchange rates and payment processing.

Membership gives you access to the FFTC network, member resources, community updates and the opportunity to request trusted introductions to Local Friend Connectors drawn from a network of friends, friends-of-friends and trusted local pathways.

Some light-touch connections may be included with membership or offered for a modest additional fee. More involved introductions, shared-interest experiences, longer local support or accommodation will be priced separately.

Fees will depend on the destination, complexity, level of support requested and number of Local Friend Connectors or partners involved. 

FFTC will always explain any fee, what is included, and any boundaries or expectations before anything is confirmed.
